Mary was born on 13 June 1986 in California , USA. Her mother, Jarnette Olsen, was a personal manager, and her father, David Olsen, worked in real estate and banking. She has Ashley Olsen's twin sister, Trent's elder brother, and Elizabeth Olsen's younger sister. Her parents were divorced in 1996. She also has two half-brothers, Taylor and Jake, from her father's second marriage. Olsen and Ashley attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Studies at New York University.
